Jakarta, August 5, 2025 - Jakarta is gearing up for a major transformation in its public transportation system, one of which is the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B project that will connect Velodrome to Manggarai along a 6.4-kilometer route. The goal of the Jakarta Provincial Government, through PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) (Jakpro), is not only to extend the existing route, but also to lay the foundation for the city’s future a Jakarta with fast mobility, integrated areas, and modern infrastructure.
As of July 31, 2025, Jakpro has recorded a construction progress of more than 61.79 percent. The erection of PCI girders at several stations, such as BPKP Pramuka Station and Matraman Station, has commenced. Meanwhile, architectural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) works are ongoing at Rawamangun Station. At Pasar Pramuka Station and Manggarai Station, pier and pier head construction is currently in progress.
LRT Jakarta Project Director, Ramdani Akbar, stated, “Construction in high-density areas such as Manggarai and Matraman comes with its own set of challenges, but thanks to intensive coordination between Jakpro and the relevant stakeholders, these challenges have been kept under control.”
For the elevated track section along the Wiyoto Wiyono Toll Road, bore pile, pilecap, and pier works have been completed. The project has now moved on to pier head construction and the installation of form travellers for long-span box girder segments. Along Jalan Pramuka, most pier works have been completed, and the project is progressing to girder erection, slab deck casting, and parapet wall construction.
At the Pramuka flyover area, bore pile, pilecap, pier, and pier head works are ongoing, while along Jalan Tambak, slab deck and parapet wall casting is underway.
Once completed, LRT Jakarta Phase 1B will provide faster and easier access for communities across North, East, and Central Jakarta. The expansion of the LRT Jakarta line also aims to create better intermodal connectivity, reduce carbon emissions, and ease traffic congestion in the capital.
“This LRT Jakarta Phase 1B project is part of Jakarta’s larger movement towards becoming a more efficient and environmentally friendly global city. It’s about moving from congestion to connectivity, from pollution to sustainability because public transportation is no longer just an option, but a necessity for a better life,” Ramdani explained.
